The Constance Resort
The Constance — Lenox, Massachusetts (Renovation and Redesign)
Formerly known as The Rookwood Inn, The Constance is a fully reimagined boutique hotel located in the heart of Lenox, Massachusetts—just steps from downtown and the renowned Tanglewood Music Festival. Originally built in 1825 as the Williams Tavern, the property underwent a complete transformation under new ownership and now stands as one of the Berkshires’ most elegant historic retreats.
Tom Drauschak oversaw the full reconstruction, renovation, and redesign of the project—preserving the charm of the 19th-century mansion while introducing modern luxury and functionality throughout. Working closely with ownership, Tom directed all aspects of planning, permitting, construction management, and design coordination for guest rooms, common areas, utilities, dining spaces.
He also redesigned and managed the construction of the new parking lot, improving access, circulation, and site aesthetics to harmonize with the property’s historic character.
The result is a seamless fusion of old and new—a revived landmark celebrated in Vogue Magazine for its distinctive beauty, craftsmanship, and enduring sense of place in the Berkshires.
Result: A complete reinvention of a Lenox landmark—restored, re-engineered, and repositioned as The Constance, one of the region’s premier boutique hotels.
